Lansing Area Catholic Young Adult Sports Night
All are welcome to join us on Fridays for our sports night. The only requirements are a good sense of sportsmanship and an openness to meet new people. Generally we play a variety of sports such as ultimate frisbee, volleyball, soccer, dodgeball, basketball, and even board games on occasion. Afterward a group of us will head out to a local restaurant for food, drinks, and to socialize. This group is not limited to St Martha and we will post where each event is taking place on our group's facebook page. If you do not use facebook you can also signup to receive text updates for each event.
Book Club
Our book club consists of young adults in their 20s and 30s reading both popular and religious literature that help ignite discussion on our faith. To join please email jthelen@st-martha.org for details on what to read and when we are meeting.
So far we have read:
Silence by Shusaku Endo
Watch for the Light: Readings for Advent and Christmas
The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis
Tattoos on the Heart by Fr. Greg Boyle
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** by Mark Manson
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky - [currently reading]
Film Club
This is a recent group we have started up during quarantine with young adults from around the Lansing Diocese. Currently we are watching films each Friday through a video meeting and then discussing them afterward. Email jthelen@st-martha.org if you would like details and to be updated about our upcoming meetings.
Catholic E-Sports Group
During this Covid crisis some of the sports nights members have gone on to setup a facebook group for playing games online. Part of this is based on the board game nights we have hosted in the past with favorites such as Jackbox games and codenames. If you are interested in getting in joining just add yourself to the facebook page or email me at jthelen@st-martha.org to ask for an invite.
