Joey directs our St. Martha School choir as they Glorify God in song during our school Masses. In addition, she also directs our Parish children's choir which includes children/students grade 3 through high school, and guides our Middle School students as they learn to serve as cantors.
In the 2024-2025 school year, St. Martha School joined the Michigan State Vocal Music Association (MSVMA) which allowed 6th-8th grade school choir students to audition for State Honors Choir. During it's first year, five students auditioned for MSVMA's Honors Choir, all were invited to the Regional Honors Choir, and four went on to perform with the State Honors Choir.
An enthusiastic singer since she was a child, Joey was a young cantor at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Hendersonville, Tennessee beginning in the eighth grade. She received her Bachelor's degree in music from the University of South Florida, and her Master's degree in music from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She has sung with Nashville Opera, Knoxville Opera, and Opera Grand Rapids.
Joey resides in Okemos with her husband Giordano Cerizza, and their daughter and cat.
