Dear People of Saint Martha Parish,
I am so very grateful for all the loving interaction that has been part of my time here with you at Saint Martha Parish. There has been so much to gather into my heart and, at the same time, set free. When I celebrated my 50th Jubilee in August of 2017, and now 53 years this August, I am realizing that half my religious life has been here with you. All has been very good, life-giving and life nourishing to my whole being.
I would like to lift up my ministry to our Loving God in gratitude and draw down God’s blessing on these ministries, and any new ones might come about. May they sanctify the parish and those who will receive these blessings.
May the Lord bless our school and preschool so as to guide children in knowing, loving and serving the Lord. May they see, touch and reverence the gifts of God’s creation all around them. May they, with adult guidance, grow in their awareness of caring for our home, Earth.
May kindness be a God-quality in our young people’s lives, and may this kindness guide their interactions with people of all ages as they grow in their own learning, respect, and maturity.
May Saint Martha’s service ministries be given a renewed life and be a generous blessing to all.
Come Holy Spirit, I pray, that in the right time, the ministry of teaching and working with young girls through the sewing projects for others will arise. May this be given its place in our young people’s lives. Holy Spirit bless the interactions of adults and youth as they learn from each other, for this is so needed.
May our dear elderly people, so shut away from our care these past months, be blessed with the love and service of the people of Saint Martha. May the few minutes spent with them in residential homes or their own homes be rich in the realization of the Lord presence. Each offering the deep and simple prayer to the Lord’s heart “to make my heart unto thine …”
May we all find ways to break open scripture this summer. Maybe it is our own backyard ministry to gather a few people, no set form or structure except allowing our hearts and voices to be given to knowing how God is working in our lives and the lives of others. This could happen on all our porches with a couple of neighbors or friends or family members … walking into the gospel setting … voicing our thoughts and questions … hearing another’s heartfelt difficulties … cherishing one phrase or another of Sunday’s responsorial psalm as it comes to each person. What a wonderful brief time spent in preparation for hearing the Word of God proclaimed, so as to not let just be there. I know that you could do this for each other and yourselves.
May all our rich and varied sources which invited us to live the gospel be life-giving and life-challenging.
Come Holy Spirit, into the hearts and mind and lives of these Saint Martha people as they gather under the care of the Holy Family of Bethany -- Saint Martha, Saint Mary and Saint Lazarus -- to be a channel of grace to each of us, as they always are always praying for us. Saint Martha, help the people to be a wondrous, unstoppable love of Jesus as they live with their family, local and global community.
I will be moving to our Cincinnati Sister of Charity Motherhouse on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Sister Marie Pauline moved into Mother Margaret Hall on June 21, 2020.
Since I will be going into a combination of independent and assisted living, I will have only this kind of goodbye, yet, I have been so blessed with your thank you's showered upon me with the “Fun Card Party”. Each card brought me more gratitude for all that has been and blessing all that will be.
