Like all Americans of good will, the people of Saint Martha Parish were horrified by the shocking and tragic death of George Floyd. This terrible event, along with the unity shown in the peaceful protests and the harm caused by the violent protests, all serve as reminders that we must respect every individual brother and sister as the unique child of God that he or she is. Let us pray that our nation can heal. And, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, prayed the words of the prophet Amos from the Old Testament in his historic "I Have a Dream" speech, let us ask the Lord to bring us to the day when "justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream."
