Thank you to everyone who’s already offered support to our Stewardship for Saints and Scholars combined campaign. If you haven’t had the chance to join your fellow parishioners in supporting our campaign, it’s not too late. On November 23 and 24, during each Mass, we will celebrate Commitment Weekend. This event allows us to honor the many families who have helped our parish reach this point in the campaign while offering everyone a final chance to invest in the future of St. Martha. Join us for Commitment Weekend on November 23 and 24!
If you prefer to pledge now, please click here and make sure to indicate that you are from St. Martha. Thank you for your support!
The amounts are based on several factors, including giving history and answers shared in the planning study back in April and May. Our goal is to challenge everyone to consider supporting the campaign in a meaningful and sacrificial way that works for each family. Consider the requested five-year pledge amount in your letter as an invitation to prayerful discernment to see how the Lord is calling you to participate in your circumstances, not an expectation. We will be grateful for all pledges to the campaign.
Every registered family will be asked to participate in the campaign.
Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that we have been called by the Lord to build His kingdom.
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58.
This project does not fall on the shoulders of one family or a few. It is the responsibility of everyone at St. Martha to hear God’s call and to continue to grow His ministry. The obligation rests with everyone to do their part to raise the necessary funding. We all need to identify and make sacrificial and meaningful donations to ensure the campaign is a success.
A pledge is not legally binding, but it is a gift which you consider to be meaningful. We ask that you do your best to fulfill your pledge and advise the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Lansing of any financial changes that will impact your commitment. All pledges will be kept confidential.
The upcoming campaign at St. Martha will take place as part of the diocese-wide campaign. A combined campaign means that we have secured additional campaign counsel to put extra effort into fundraising so as fund local needs in addition to reaching our diocesan target. Stewardship for Saints and Scholars materials will still be used for this campaign, with local additions as needed.
St. Martha is one parish, and the school is an extension of the parish - a ministry of the parish. The school, particularly the children and their families, bring excitement and vivacity to our already vibrant community. Catholic schools are no longer a means to educate but are increasingly, and even more importantly, a means to evangelize - not just our children but, by extension, our families. We are a better community because of the school.
Like all ministries, the school is funded by the parish. None of the parish schools in the Diocese of Lansing charge the full cost to educate as the tuition rate. Rather, to some degree, the cost to educate is subsidized by the parish. That degree of subsidization means that we have been able to keep the gift of Catholic education affordable for hundreds of families. This is the right thing to do in our times, and something to be proud of!
